The unprecedented COVID19 health crisis has brought the world to a standstill, and tourism has been the worst affected of all major economic sectors. However, even if Covid-19 has brought tourism to uncharted waters, our knowledge from previous crises shows that the industry can quickly recover and return to normality. A precondition of this is to regain the holiday intention of visitors, also taking under consideration that in travel, tourism and hospitality, destinations and organizations need to gain the highest possible resilience when facing inevitable crises and disasters.

Key note speakers included:

Ms. Kimarli Fernando – Chairperson Sri Lanka Tourism

Dr Nikolaos Pappas – Associate Professor in Tourism Hospitality and Events, and the Director of the Centre for Research in Tourism Excellence (CERTE) at the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom.
